About the centre

A purpose-built consumer testing facility in the Midlands.

Most central location testing in Birmingham happens in venues that were built for something else, and the operational compromises stack up quickly. Noted’s Birmingham centre is the opposite. Every part of  the

space is built around the actual reality of running consumer fieldwork properly: prep facilities that are real prep facilities, storage that genuinely holds temperature, scheduling that does not bottleneck at the door, rooms designed to flex between tightly run CLTs and moderated qualitative sessions in the same day. It is one of the busiest dedicated consumer testing facilities in the Midlands, run by a team who have heard every preparation request, ingredient quirk and serving requirement you can think of. Most issues that derail a CLT have already been solved here, quietly, in advance.

Location and access

Easy to find, easy to get to.

Birmingham gives us a recruitment radius covering Greater Birmingham, the West Midlands, Coventry, Wolverhampton and the surrounding region, opening up genuinely representative coverage of the Midlands consumer base. Strong motorway access via the M5, M6 and M42 means participants from across the region find us easily, which is the part most facilities quietly underestimate. Direct rail access from Birmingham New Street covers participants travelling without a car.

What you can run at the Birmingham centre.

The space is configured for the full range of consumer fieldwork methodologies, with the operational backbone to run multiple sessions in parallel across a single day. Behind the scenes, food prep, cooking, storage and compliance are built into the design rather than improvised.

Right people. Local to the centre.

A purpose-built facility is only half the job. The other half is the people you put inside it. Our Birmingham recruitment is supported by Noted’s wider 25,000-strong UK community plus active local recruitment across the Midlands. Participants are screened on behaviour and usage as well as demographics, so the people in the room genuinely match the audience your project is trying to understand. Frequency is actively managed to prevent overuse, and attendance is tracked from the moment a slot is booked.

Methodologies

Methodologies

  • Central Location Testing (structured product evaluation)
  • Consumer sensory and preference studies
  • Focus groups and moderated discussions
  • Depth interviews
  • Product trials and structured tasting sessions
  • Packaging and pack-shot evaluation

What the Birmingham centre is good for.

A few of the project shapes the centre is set up to handle particularly well:

  • High-volume CLTs needing multi-region geographic balance, with Birmingham anchoring the Midlands read
  • Consumer sensory studies that need controlled preparation, rotation and serving conditions
  • Hot food and cooked product testing where preparation quality affects the result
  • Beer, wine, spirits and RTD product evaluations
  • Mixed-method projects that combine CLTs and qualitative depths in a single day
  • Qualitative recruitment that needs Midlands consumer profiles screened on behaviour

Come and have a look.

Fieldwork makes a lot more sense when you can see how it works. If you are considering running a project at the Birmingham centre, you are welcome to visit before committing. We will walk you through the prep area, the testing rooms, the rotation setup and the parts of the operation clients normally never see. It is the fastest way to work out whether we are the right partner.
